Check Out this Gov’t SPENDING SPREE: Pianos, Snowboards, BOOZE

Does anyone foolishly believe Congress spends the taxpayer money wisely?

Hopefully not. Because Congress repeatedly neglects the ultimate common-sense fix: confronting the irrational use-it-or-lose-it spending in Washington, D.C.

It’s no wonder we can’t pay down our deficit.

In just a seven day span, 67 agencies spent $50 billion to close out their budgets. We call this the Use-It-Or-Lose-It Spending Spree that goes on at the end of every fiscal year.
Partnering with Cox Media Group, Washington News Bureau, and reporter Justin Gray, we found federal agencies purchasing booze, snowboards, pianos, guitars, fancy gym equipment, and much more.
Consider just a few examples:
  • $6.2 million spent on gym equipment, including millions of dollars spent on CrossFit equipment, one of the country’s hottest fitness trends.
  • The U.S. Army bought fidget spinners ($6,600), an arcade machine ($35,000), and snowboards and paddle boards ($62,000). Veterans Affairs spent $20,000 on shuffleboards.
  • Orders for music equipment, like a $20,000 grand piano, Fender guitars and saxophones.
  • Agencies bought $170 million worth of cars, motorcycles, and scooters!

Use it or Lose It

The reasoning behind this practice is to make sure budgets aren’t cut. Department heads fear they won’t get as much funding next year if they don’t spend every single dime they have this year. But honestly, does the US Army need fidget spinners? I hear Trump has a wall to build if the boredom is growing that intense.

Still, apparently for every nine dollars spent throughout the entire year, one dollar is spent during the blitz week. That’s a little more than 11% of the entire budget blown in a week’s time. A normal week spends a little less than 2% of the annual budget. Are the numbers making your head spin yet?

As WSB points out:

“We identified in the last fiscal year that $50 billion dollars of contract spending went out the door in the last 7 days of the fiscal year,” Andrzejewski said.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY, introduced a bill that would award bonuses to federal employees who cut budgets. We first reported on that legislation two years ago, and so far it has gone nowhere.

And I’ll give you one guess as to why that legislation hasn’t been adopted yet.

Leftists Hate Fiscal Responsibility

If the annual ‘go nuts spending spree’ isn’t enough to convince you that liberals will do anything to avoid handling taxpayer funds responsibly, consider the billions Obama wasted.

As we previously reported, Obama spent $40 billion a year on green energy projects. And what did America get for that investment? Nothing! In fact, the average homeowner would need a $30,000 system just to save $2,000 a year. That doesn’t exactly paint a pretty picture of saving the world.

It’s no wonder that most of the green energy companies went belly-up as fast as the ObamaCare co-ops.

And there are plenty more dumb moves where those came from. For example, Obama “loaned GM $50 million dollars. Then only $40 million was paid back. After which, the loss was called an “accounting error.

Sadly, after throwing tons of money at the problem, Obama didn’t even have the smarts to add a list of demands to the pile of cash.

And to add insult to injury, in 2016 we learned the government spent more than a billion dollars of our money just to make us think Obama is smart!

Unfortunately, leftists swallowed the bait- hook, line and sinker. They’re so brainwashed, liberals can no longer recognize true intelligence.

Obviously, this is exactly why they can’t stand Donald Trump. Not only does he posses the intelligence their esteemed leader lacks, but he also demonstrates fiscal responsibility.

Trump’s Latest Moves

Trump started out his presidency with moves aimed at saving the federal government millions. He cancelled the plans to build a new Air Force One from the get-go. Then he offered big corporations huge tax cuts, but with strings. Trump didn’t give something for nothing. He demanded American jobs were saved, and even more created. Then he started cutting discretionary spending. And he continues to push for changes, such as the legislation to eliminate the fiscal spending spree by rewarding departments that operate under budget. But apparently, liberals would much rather find a way to tie Trump to Russian collusion than take a lesson in creating wealth.

By all means, let’s just keep chasing unicorns with ‘sideshow Bob’ Mueller and spend all our money on fidget spinners. Because that’s how leftists want to make America great.
