Bernie Supporter Turns Warren Whistle-Blower

Rumor has it, Elizabeth Warren just secured a solid second place spot in the crowded Democrat debacle. That’s bad news for the big wigs wishing to remain in the running. Thus, it’s time to make some power plays and knock Warren down a few notches.

Of course, Republicans need not bother intervening at this point. Like a pack of hyenas, they’ll pick each other off one by one. In fact, it appears as though #TeamBernie fired a shot at Pocahontas.

As Fox News explains:

A Colorado-based Bernie Sanders supporter has filed a labor complaint against Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign, taking aim at its use of a confidentiality agreement that says keeps staffers from speaking out on workplace conditions.

Jason Legg, a tenant-rights attorney — he has not worked for Warrent’s campaign — filed the challenge on Tuesday.

Legg’s complaint said the Warren campaign’s use of a non-disparagement clause, which prohibited employees, interns, and fellows from making “any statement that may impair or adversely affect the goodwill or reputation of the organization,” flew “in the teeth” of the National Labor Relations Act.

Of course Legg won’t admit a political motivation exists. In fact, Legg claims Bernie is his number one guy, but that Warren would be his second choice. I’m not sure it matters. Honestly, the only two things matter. First, does his dirt have substance? And second, do Democrats care?

Let’s face it. Democrats will let their leaders literally get away with murder. Thus, a little labor complaint might not have the teeth to do any damage.

The Brass Tacks

Truly, this complaint isn’t all that juicy.

Bloomberg Law explains:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s 2020 presidential campaign is facing an unfair labor practice charge alleging its confidentiality agreement with staffers unlawfully prevents them from speaking out on workplace issues.

The Aug. 13 challenge to the campaign’s non-disparagement clause was filed by Jason Legg, a tenant’s rights attorney in Denver, Colo., who supports Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for the Democratic nomination. The National Labor Relations Board accepts charges even if the filer isn’t an employee of the organization alleged to be violating federal labor laws.

At least three Democratic campaign offices have unionized—starting with Sanders in March—and are working towards collective bargaining contracts for staff, a new development in presidential campaign politics. Warren’s campaign is the second to be hit with an NLRB charge, after an unidentified former Sanders staffer in July accused campaign officials of unlawful retaliation.

The filing against the Warren campaign by a non-employee who supports one of the candidate’s challengers suggests that both unionized and non-union campaign operations could continue to deal with complaints over issues that are fairly novel in the political campaign space, where unpaid volunteers, confidentiality, and long hours are the norm. President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign faced claims of labor violations that were dismissed by the NLRB in early 2018.

Legg told Bloomberg Law that he hopes his charge spurs changes in the Warren campaign’s employment practices. He is targeting the campaign’s reported use of unpaid fellowships, as well as non-disparagement agreements that Legg says could stifle staffers’ labor rights.

Ironicallly, according to Legg, his family member took on significant amounts of debt related to campaign work. So here were have the party screaming for minimum wage to hit $15/hr. Meanwhile, they rake in all the free labor they can muster.

But at the end of the day, none of this is really about a labor dispute.

It’s actually an attempt to drudge up negative headlines in hopes of pushing Warren back to the bottom of the barrel. However, I think democrats are going about this all wrong. I say they should embrace Warren as the leader of the pack. She’s a woman, with a shady past, and she throws around false claims about her record in Congress, inflating her influence on society. It’s almost like the left scored Hillary 2.0.  And if they’d just stick with Warren, we’d finally get to see Trump pounce her on a national stage.
