Pelosi Caves: Impeach Trump Before 2020

Nancy Pelosi just joined her party. She’s finally ready to run the gamut of impeachment.

This might be the biggest mistake of Pelosi’s entire career.

Democrats have only one chance in 2020. They must impeach Trump in order to take over the White House. Thus, it’s no wonder they continually search for grounds to impeach.

Currently, Democrats base their fantasies on a phone call with the Ukraine. But tomorrow will come and bust their hopes and dreams yet again. Especially now that Donald Trump said he is releasing the transcript of said phone call.

Let me save us all a little time. This phone call is going to be another big fat nothing burger. But Democrats just played right into the hands of the GOP.

They will waste many more months and millions making their case for impeachment, only to lose in the end.

But don’t let me steal Nancy’s thunder. By all means, let’s give her announcement the attention it so deserves.

As Fox News writes:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., announced the formalization of an impeachment inquiry into President Trump Tuesday evening, saying “the president must be held accountable” for his “betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security, and the betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”

The speaker effectively endorsed the process, which to some degree has already been underway, after facing fresh pressure from inside the caucus to act publicly. The move could help Democrats’ disputed arguments in court that impeachment proceedings were in fact in progress, which could entitle Congress to obtain additional documents.

Invoking the “darkest days of the American Revolution,” Pelosi called on lawmakers to honor their constitutional oath to protect the country “from all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Pelosi specifically charged that the administration had violated the law by not turning over a whistleblower complaint concerning Trump’s July call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Citing testimony that the director of national intelligence was blocking the release of that complaint, she said: “This is a violation of law. The law is unequivocal.”

What About Biden?

So let’s be sure to get this straight. Democrats are angry that Trump encouraged the Ukraine to investigate Biden and his son Hunter. However, what about Biden’s behavior?

As Fox explains:

Joe Biden has acknowledged on camera that, when he was vice president, he successfully pressured Ukraine to fire its top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, while Shokin was investigating the natural gas firm Burisma Holdings — where Hunter Biden was on the board. Shokin himself had separately been accused of corruption.

Oddly enough, Democrats don’t seem to care that this witch hunt will again backfire.

But there were major signs throughout the day that Democrats’ gambit could backfire, as Republicans predicted over the weekend.

Trump vowed earlier Tuesday to release a “complete” transcript of his call with Zelensky by Wednesday. Additionally, a report in Politico late Monday stated that the Trump administration was preparing to turn over the entire whistleblower complaint, and accompanying inspector general report, to Congress.

Still, Pelosi appeared undeterred — and suggested to reporters that impeachment could be appropriate even for matters unrelated to the Ukraine probe.

“This week, the president has admitted to asking the president of Ukraine to take actions which would benefit him politically,” Pelosi said. “Therefore, today, I’m announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I’m directing our six committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella.

“The president must be held accountable,” she continued. “No one is above the law.”

The committees then would gather evidence and president it to Pelosi and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., who would make the ultimate determination on whether to hold an impeachment vote.

Same Old Song

As we wrote earlier today, these cries for impeachment are the same old song and dance. Almost as early as Trump’s inauguration, Mad Maxine Waters started her Impeach 45 campaign. Along the way, others chimed in.

Most recently, Elizabeth Warren jumped the impeachment bandwagon with all the fanfare she can muster. Which honestly isn’t much, but still, she landed a few headlines. Of course Warren has her cronies to join her mission. Nadler, Booker, Harris, Waters and good ole Beto lead the charge. Now Nancy is on board. But as I mentioned earlier today, they can look at impeachment from every angle. Still, at the end of the day, they’ll just be Trumped.
