Pelosi and her cronies came up with the standards by which they will conduct their witch hunt aka impeachment inquiry. There’s just one problem.
These standards would sink Obama a thousand times over.
It’s funny how many times we’ve nailed down the leftist hypocrisy. Especially when it comes to Obama vs. Trump. For example, we’ve often written about Obama’s immigration stance. Trump’s words closely mirror Obama’s.
As we previously pointed out, most people credit Trump with quotes that came straight from the left, back when they still had a shred of sense.
For example, Campus Reform’s Cabot Phillips put a few college kids to the test:
He presented students with several quotes that sounded a lot like President Trump’s speeches, but actually came from then-Senator Barack Obama, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Hillary Clinton — including:
“Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress.” – Schumer, 2009
“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented and unchecked” – Obama, 2005
“I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.” – Clinton, 2015
Students described the quotes as “dehumanizing,” “problematic” and “jingoist,” with one student dubbing it “hateful speech” and another claiming the comments contained “racial biases.”
The were in for a surprise, however, when Phillips informed that prominent Democrats actually made the remarks.
Unfortunately, the hypocrisy doesn’t stop there.
Immigration isn’t the hot topic this week. But impeachment is. Thus, democrats focus their tunnel vision on removing the President.
In fact, Pelosi recently said:
I do think we have enough,” she said. “We’ve had enough for a very long time … but as long as there is corroboration, we might as well get some more. And then we’ll see.” She was equally unequivocal that the core charges against Trump—that he withheld congressionally appropriated military aid to try to force Ukraine to investigate a political opponent—reach the standard of “high crimes and misdemeanors” required for impeachment.
“If this president were to get away with this, forget about it all,” she said, sitting in a conference room in her suite of offices in the Capitol. “We might as well not even run for office. You don’t need this branch of government if he’s going to overturn the power of the purse, if he is going to overturn all of the other checks and balances, the power of inquiry.”
Pelosi’s right about one thing. They shouldn’t bother to run for office. In fact, they should all just quit now, before they further embarrass themselves. Obviously, their own Baby Black Jesus can’t hold up to these standards. But Democrats see them as a fair approach?!
As Jason Chaffetz of Fox News pointed out:
Did Obama withhold documents? Daily. Did he hold back witnesses? Regularly. Did he unnecessarily delay congressional inquiries? Yes.
Did Obama encourage foreign governments to help him politically? Absolutely. Did his vice president – Joe Biden – engage in manipulation of a foreign prosecutor? Sure did.
Did a Republican-controlled House ever seriously consider impeaching President Obama? Of course not. It would have been absurd – just as absurd as the effort now underway by the Democratic majority in today’s House to impeach Trump.
We all know tensions tend to run high whenever one party controls the White House while another party controls Congress. But Trump is put through the ringer on a daily basis. The brutal attacks from the left are relentless.
From Day 1
From the moment Trump took his oath of office, the leftist plot to impeach was set into motion. And while Democrats haven’t found the attack that sticks, they haven’t given up trying.
Chaffetz continues:
The establishment doesn’t like Trump and the media want to get him out of Washington. But the economy is doing great, foreign policy is succeeding, and the prospect of Trump winning a second term is high.
The Democrats have been operating with the end in mind. Since Day One of Trump’s presidency, the resistance wing of the Democratic Party has been plotting to impeach him.
For three years the Democrats have been seeking evidence and hoping to find facts to support their conclusion that Trump should be impeached. Thus far they have failed. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report was a bust in their minds – but undeterred, they still seek to impeach, no matter the evidence or lack thereof.
On. January 20, 2017 The Washington Post published a story headlined “The Campaign to Impeach President Trump Has Begun.” This was the first day of the Trump presidency – but his opponents already wanted him out office.
“The resistance” wanted to grab back the power and didn’t want to wait four or eight years. The clock is ticking and they must move now or they will run out of time.
By contrast, when I was a Republican in the House of Representatives when President Obama was in office we sought accountability and followed the facts, but never seriously suggested impeaching the president.
Scandal-free Administration?
It’s hilarious when Obama and his minions suggest he operated a scandal-free administration. In fact, consider what Chaffetz writes about that:
There was plenty of scandal in the Obama-Biden administration.
We investigated Fast & Furious, the IRS scandal, Benghazi, Hillary Clinton’s emails, the secretive Iran payment, Obama’s Justice Department spying on reporters, Obama’s intervention in Libya, and on and on.
And that was all before the revelations uncovered by the Justice Department inspector general resulting in referrals for prosecution or disciplinary action against the FBI director, deputy director and assistant director.
The investigations of the Obama-Biden administration were serious, involving cases where people were killed and major malfeasance was being perpetrated.
Based on the loose, make-it-up-as-we-go secretive “impeachment” proceedings by Speaker Pelosi, she should have sought to impeach President Obama. He would have never had a chance.
Sadly, while Democrats waste millions of dollars and way too much time on this fiasco, we’re missing out on the opportunity to effectively change things for the better. Just take the price tag from the Mueller report. The final tally seems to be $32 MILLION. Imagine the infrastructure we could build with that money. Or the cancer research we could conduct. Or the work programs we could bolster. The possibilities are endless. Instead, the money is gone. And it was a total waste of both time and expense. Much like this impeachment inquiry. Democrats might make a lot of noise, but at the end of the day, they don’t deliver.
