As if things weren’t bad enough for Democrats they just got worse.
Consider that Democrats offered America over 20 candidates for president, including a former Vice President. Yet, the party still hoped for a Great White Hope. Yes, really…a Great WHITE Hope!
And now they got one, as former Mayor of NYC Michael Bloomberg officially announces his bid for the presidency.
Sources say that anti-Trumper Jeff Bezos prompted the 77-year old dinosaur to run. Clear, Bezos couldn’t run, given his divorce and the scandals revolving around that. So he enlisted his fellow billionaire socialist. But let’s look at the 5 massive problems Bloomberg’s candidacy creates.
Problem #1: Bloomberg minimizes all the other Leftists candidates.
As I indicated earlier, even a former VP isn’t good enough to beat Trump. And what about all the other distinguished candidates? Now Democrats depend on a Gestapo mayor to do what former First Lady and Secretary of State under Baby Black Jesus couldn’t do?
And what of the other Leftist clowns? Five debates in, and still no clear front-runner. Senators going down in flames. Democrats have congressmen, governors, businessmen, Obama appointees, blacks, Latinos, women, LGBT, and about everything else. They remind me of the quote from Blazing Saddles, where Hedley Lamar says:
I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers, and Methodists!
The Democrats’ new strategy appears to be, “Our billionaire can beat up your billionaire”.
Problem #2: Bloomberg considers himself a centrist.
So he poses a threat to the radical agenda of the Left, while reinforcing the good policies of Trump. That doesn’t make for a good strategy when your candidate opposes your point of view and reinforces that of his opponent.
NY Mag wrote of a Bloomberg run:
Bloomberg is reportedly mulling a run, but could never win. Michelle Obama could win, but would never run. Hillary Clinton is almost certainly not delusional enough to throw her hat in the ring. And none of the other names floated by the Whitby diners — Deval Patrick, Eric Holder, John Kerry, and Sherrod Brown — have any obvious advantage over the standard-issue Dems already in the race. If Kamala Harris and Cory Booker aren’t connecting, why would a slapdash Patrick or Holder campaign hit the mark? And what does Brown offer that Klobuchar doesn’t (beyond the opportunity to squander a precious Senate vote)?
The idea that the primary electorate would eagerly support a garden-variety moderate Democrat (who boasts no special connection to Barack Obama) if only they had more than a dozen such candidates to choose from, is manifestly absurd. But the Whitby crowd’s longing for some kind of 2020 “do over” is entirely understandable.
Centrist Democrats entered this cycle with a fairly strong hand. Polls consistently found a majority of Democratic voters saying they preferred a maximally electable nominee over an ideologically ideal one. What’s more, in some surveys, a plurality of the primary electorate evinced a preference for a return to Obamaism over big structural change. To be sure, if progressives consolidated their votes behind a single standard-bearer — one with at least a modicum of appeal to African-Americans in the South — they could still pose a real threat. But the looming left-on-left battle between two light-skinned New Englanders seemed to nullify that risk. Everything was coming up incrementalism.
I agree wholeheartedly. Bloomberg will never resonate with blacks. They have their down-to-earth billionaire, as our polling shows.
Next, Problem #3 for Democrats: what are the optics of choosing an Independent?
Remember, Democrats tried this with Bernie Sanders. And he sold out to the dark forces of Hillary Clinton. Sanders rolled over to let Hillary Clinton win. I suspect Democrats won’t be able to buy Bloomberg out of a race, should things come down to him and [insert other Leftist clown here].
Sadly for Biden, [insert other Leftist clown here] is Biden. So if Democrats want to replace Biden, the supposed front-runner and person most likely to beat Trump, then I suggest somebody in the Party of Slavery and Hanging of Blacks doesn’t believe the Biden hype.
Problem #4 for Democrats is Bloomberg has already criticize many of his primary opponents and Democrats in general.
The Washington Examiner writes of Bloomberg’s comments on Warren,
Michael Bloomberg couldn’t resist taking a playful swing at Elizabeth Warren over her stance against the super-wealthy.
The former New York City mayor and billionaire philanthropist bumped into the senator for Massachusetts and 2020 Democratic White House hopeful on Saturday while backstage at the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund’s Presidential Gun Sense Forum. Bloomberg founded and continues to fund the nonprofit organization, which advocates for greater gun control.
“I just said to Sen. Warren on the way out, ‘Senator, congratulations, it’s a nice talk. But let me just remind you if my company hadn’t been successful, we wouldn’t be here today, so enough with this stuff,’” Bloomberg joked with the crowd in Des Moines, Iowa.
Aside from being an anti-Warren, Bloomberg differs with Democrats on many major issues. The Hill wrote:
He has criticized plans by liberal Democrats to raise taxes, but he has angered conservatives by spending millions of dollars to fund campaigns to reduce gun violence and to fight climate change.
In short, Bloomberg steals no votes from Trump. However, he does create multiple new chasms with Democrats, beginning with being a rich white man.
Problem #5 reveals the Party of Rich White People.
Bloomberg is not just rich, he’s super rich. Richer than Trump. That fact is not a good optic for Democrats, the wannabe Party of the Poor.
And much of Bloomberg’s wealth was gained during his time as Mayor of NYC. We documented his enormous wealth growth during the time he was mayor. I suspect the Trump team may question where Bloomberg got his money.
But some Democrats may begin to note that the Party of Opportunity seems to have shut out blacks, Latinos, Asians, the LGBT, and women. All for a super wealthy hypocrite who doesn’t practice what he preaches.
