For the past year or more, Facebook has targeted political websites, including this one.
They continually hide or remove our content, categorizing it as either false or misleading, when in truth, it is simply the conservative viewpoint they don’t like.
In fact, a few months ago, Kevin Jackson wrote an article titled “Finnish Scientists Prove Man-Made Global Climate Change is a SCAM.”
In a matter of two days, our page was hit with limited distribution. And the article was tagged as “fake news” because it wasn’t scientific enough. However, we’re not researchers. We’re commentators. Thus, we printed commentary on scientific news we read. Our article was properly cited with the research so that interested parties could dig deeper into the facts. Nothing in our article was untrue. Still, the Black Sphere sat in Facebook jail for weeks.
Leftists pretend Facebook made such a move to stop the spread of fake news. As if Mark Zuckerberg is the self-appointed savior of social media ensuring we all tell the truth. And nothing but the truth.
There’s just one little problem with that.
Facebook Won’t Remove Leftist Lies
If you’re a conservative, be sure you have your facts lined up and ready to verify. But if you’re a leftist, anything goes.
As Fox News explains:
Facebook will not unilaterally remove a misleading ad created by a California gubernatorial candidate who is challenging the company’s fact-checking policies by claiming that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., supports the impeachment of President Trump, Fox News has confirmed.
Titled “#ThanksMitch,” the ad by Adriel Hampton shows a series of spliced clips falsely indicating that McConnell backs the process that would prompt a Senate trial to determine whether Trump should be removed from office. McConnell has vowed to quash a removal effort and has also fiercely condemned Democratic attempts to impeach Trump.
In a statement to Fox News, Facebook didn’t say it would remove the ad. Instead, it said that unlike other candidates, Hampton’s ads would be subject to third-party fact-checking because he deliberately registered as a candidate in order to skirt its fact-checking policies.
“This person has made clear he registered as a candidate to get around our policies, so his content, including ads, will continue to be eligible for third-party fact-checking,” a Facebook spokesperson said. When asked why the social media giant couldn’t just remove the ad itself, the company didn’t immediately respond.
“So bizarre that Facebook tells reporters that third-party fact checkers [sic] can flag my false ads,” Hampton responded on Twitter. “But Facebook’s official policy for those fact checkers [sic] tells them ‘hands off’ [sic] of ads by political parties and politicians. Facebook has lost the plot.”
Then, Hampton tried to steer the controversy to Donald Trump.
“It is a massive problem that Trump can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on Facebook,’ Hampton said in a statement posted to Facebook. ‘You add that to the fact that his ability to micro-target ads to reach influenceable groups of people with different messages. This is absolutely weaponized lying.’”
Hampton flooded Facebook with lies on other occasions as well. Previously, he ran ads claiming Trump wanted to replace Mike Pence with Sean Hannity on the 2020 ballot.
Sadly, Hampton justifies his actions because, according to him, Trump ran a misleading ad against Joe Biden.
So-called Lies
The so-called lies against Joe Biden happen to be the truth. However, this is how Huffington Post explains it:
The Trump ad being contested pushes a conspiracy theory that Biden ― according to a narrator in the clip ― “promised Ukraine $1 billion if they fired the prosecutor investigating his son’s company.”
While it is true that the elder Biden, then serving as vice president, told Ukrainian leaders in 2016 to fire a top prosecutor if they wanted to get the aid, there’s no evidence that this demand had anything to do with his son, Hunter.
In Biden’s own words, it went something like this:
“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a bitch, he got fired…”
Of course, that sounds a lot like quid pro quo if you ask me. But I digress. Apparently, it’s not okay to call Biden out for his scandalous lies. But it’s perfectly acceptable to completely fabricate stories about conservatives. As Facebook will always err on the side of the left.
