Democrats Down to One Colored Candidate

Didn’t Democrats promise to be the party of diversity? I mean, they did put the first black President in office.

But I’m guessing they’ve abandoned their progressive ideas and reverted back to the old white guy.

In fact, some media outlets declared Biden the winner of last night’s comical debate.

According the the New York Post:

Joe Biden won Wednesday night’s Democratic debate in what was easily the strongest performance of the evening and his best in all six faceoffs this year.

He was calm, contained, passionate and — most important for him, given past performance — focused. But the juiciest part of the proceedings was the war of all against all that set in around 90 minutes in.

First, Elizabeth Warren went after Pete Buttigieg for having a fundraiser attended by some billionaires in a wine cave.

Then Buttigieg turned on Warren. “You know, according to Forbes magazine,” he said, “I’m literally the only person on this stage who is not a millionaire or a billionaire.”

And, he pointed out, the Massachusetts Senator transferred money from her Senate campaign to her presidential campaign — money she raised in ways similar to the ones the South Bend, Ind., mayor had used, using techniques Barack Obama had used.

You get the idea. The Democrats spent their time destroying one another in the desperate hope that a front runner would miraculously emerge.

Harris quit. Booker couldn’t make the debate. And that’s when it became painfully obvious. The Democrats already eradicated all the colored people from the pool of candidates, leaving only one non-white guy on the stage.

Enter Andrew Yang

A few weeks ago, my son brought a few Yang videos to my attention. Of course I watched them. If you don’t know your opposition, you don’t know your position. At least that’s what I was taught growing up.

Yang bounced around many ideas in his early appearances, but it seems he recently cemented his angle. According to Yang’s ideas, white privilege is the enemy of American politics. And free money will fix it all.

As Fox News explains:

“It’s both an honor and a disappointment to be the lone candidate of color on the stage tonight,” Yang said during the debate.

Thursday’s debate occurred just weeks after Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., dropped out of the 2020 race — leaving a top tier of just white candidates.

“I miss Kamala, I miss Cory, though I think Cory will be back,” Yang said, referring to Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. Booker remained in the race but was unable to qualify for Thursday’s debate.

Yang went on to suggest that he was the only candidate of color on stage because minorities lacked disposable income.

“You know what you need to donate to political campaigns? Disposable income,” he said to applause.

“The way we fix it this is we take Martin Luther King’s message of a guaranteed minimum income, a freedom dividend of $1,000 a month for all Americans — I’d guarantee if we had a freedom dividend … I would not be the only candidate of color on this stage tonight,” he said.

Are you kidding me? A thousand dollars a month for all Americans? Is this Bernie Sanders’ secret brown love child?

Now I see why leftists love Yang.

He’s out there promising free money. I’m guessing Yang has no idea where cash actually comes from. Or how you get it.

According to Yahoo Finance:

A $12,000 annual stipend for all 256 million adult Americans would run about $3 trillion per year. The government currently spends about $4.5 trillion per year, so Yang’s UBI would represent a 67% increase in federal outlays. There would be some offsets. Since current welfare recipients wouldn’t be allowed to double-dip, there’d be a decline in the $500 billion in annual welfare spending. But the increase in federal spending would still be epic.

Once again, leftists downplay the tax increase such a bonehead move would require.

Yang wants to impose a 10% value-added tax, which would be like a federal sales tax. VATs are in effect in 168 countries and they’re proven revenue-generators. “A gradually phased-in VAT could have the potential to let us have our cake and eat it too, in terms of raising long-term revenue,” says William Gale of the Tax Policy Center.

It would still be a giant tax on consumers subject to vilification by opponents likely to claim it would make baby formula and smartphones unaffordable. And a VAT wouldn’t be enough. Yang would also impose a carbon tax that would push up gas and home-heating prices and a financial transaction tax, while raising the capital gains tax rate and the payroll tax for higher earners. That’s a lot of tax hikes. In a rational nation with a rational government, it might be possible to reengineer the tax code so thoroughly and improve the overall economy. In America, today, it’s an understatement to say this is doubtful.

And at the end of the day, the UBI will fail to boost the economy. Instead, free money will only bolster inflation.

Most people might spend their UBI responsibly, but there are bound to be some who head straight to the liquor store or the casino with each month’s check—and they’ll get an outsized share of media attention. A bigger problem could be abusive businesses that target recipients’ checks in who-knows-what novel ways, just as some used-car dealers offer “special deals” right around the time people get their income-tax refunds every spring. “It’s putting a big red X on every consumer’s back,” Gale says. “The unintended effects are always there.”

If liberals were hoping for a colored candidate, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But there’s no way Yang could hold a candle to President Trump. We actually enjoy watching our dollars grow.
