Barr Speaks in Durham Report Delivery Date

Democrats wish the Chinese Wuhan Virus would last forever. Sadly for them, it won’t. Soon America will be fixated on another virus…Leftism.

Attorney General William Barr remains busy, despite the pandemic. Anticipating the survival of mankind, Barr presses on. And so does U.S. Attorney John Durham.

Durham’s been reviewing the origins and conduct of the Trump-Russia investigation. And Barr told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Monday that Durham, the top federal prosecutor in Connecticut, was in Washington, D.C., last week working on the high-profile inquiry with staffers.

“There’s some discombobulation, but part of what we’re trying to do is keep up the mission,” Barr said of the Justice Department’s commitment.

Barr alluded to Durham’s work, as he needs to proceed with criminal investigations, prioritize coronavirus-related fraud prosecutions, keep the justice system functioning amid court closures and trial suspensions, and pursue other Trump administration priorities during the hype of the outbreak.

Six More Months

Barr wanted Durham’s investigation to wrap up by the time summer arrives, but it seems the coronavirus panic could delay the report until early September. But in a long game such as this, what’s six more months?

As The Washington Examiner reports:

Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, told colleagues during a House Rules Committee meeting last week that Durham’s inquiry is expected to end after the spring. “His investigation, and his report, if there’s a report, is due to be completed sometime this summer,” Jordan said.

He mentioned it after Rep. Michael Burgess, a Republican from Texas, asked whether “anybody is going to be accountable now,” referring to the 17 “ significant errors or omissions” the Justice Department inspector general found in the DOJ and the FBI’s use of British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s dossier when pursuing Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants to wiretap onetime Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Last week, Fox News reported that Durham was on pace to finish his “investigation of the investigators” by the summer. One source “suggested the investigation could end as soon as July.” But another “said it could be closer to September, based on Durham’s progress, which could be hindered by the coronavirus pandemic rocking the nation and the globe.”

Democrats must be thrilled to face another delay, even if it’s a virus killing thousands. It keeps the truth hidden for just a little bit longer. In fact, I’m betting liberals would like those delays to last until November. But even if that happened, the democrats don’t stand a chance on election day. Too many people see the writing on the wall.

Failure to Comply

I find it awfully funny that people like Christopher Steele don’t want to cooperate with Durham’s investigation. Weren’t Democrats determined to find the truth?
But according to the Washington Examiner:

British ex-spy Christopher Steele declined to give an interview to U.S. Attorney John Durham’s team for its review of the Russia investigation.

Representatives for Steele, whose unverified dossier was used by the FBI to obtain warrants to wiretap a member of President Trump’s 2016 campaign, were recently approached by members of the federal prosecutor’s team, and they said the former MI6 agent would not cooperate with the inquiry, according to Reuters.

Sources for the report said Steele is concerned about politicization and not being treated fairly. Durham’s spokesman declined to comment for the report.

From his initial appointment, Durham’s probe quickly escalated into a criminal investigation. Which lends a great deal of credibility to Trump’s assertion that this is a witch hunt. Especially when Trump gave Barr “full and complete authority to declassify information.” Further, Trump made clear his orders to the intelligence community “to quickly and fully cooperate with the Attorney General’s investigation into surveillance activities during the 2016 presidential election.”

A virus may slow down the inevitable. But as they say, good things come to those who wait. And I can think of nothing better than a few jail sentences.
